Could this man( Liam Fox) be implicated (by his own admission) in any future war crime
I am astounded at the knowledge base of some politicians that hold vital positions in our government. it is one thing for all those in power (all parties) to ignore the massive fraud/corruption that is being carried out by the corporate, banking and financial sectors in this country (but then maybe not as they themselves are involved), but on the other hand to disregard authentic evidence regarding depleted uranium and the harm it causes to innocent civilians around the world, including our own troops is totally unacceptable.
It so happens that a Scottish Member of Parliament, Dr Bill Wilson does have deep concerns (as I have always had) about the use of weapons that contain uranium components in any shape or form.
The world’s public must clearly understand that many many weapons today contain vast amounts of such things as depleted uranium. This can be in the form of a penetrator, shaped charged liners or simply as a counterweight in such weapons as cruise missiles.
We are not talking here about a few grams but rather amounting to many kilo's To give some sort of approximation a 105mm round would contain around 3.82kg of DU, 120mm between 4.12 and 4.63 kg, The round from an A10 or Harrier aircraft is 30mm and contains around .30kg. These rapid fire guns can fire approx 4,000 rounds per minute which equates to around 1.5 tons of DU per min. Then we step up dramatically with an assortment of missiles with the Cruise Missile containing around 360kg......even if we estimate a figure of around 1,000 Cruise missiles in the Balkans for example, that is equivalent of dumping highly radioactive waste at around 360,000 kg in their backyard. I know that many more than this were actually fired in the Balkans ( as I have the statistics) so one can imagine the contamination value and the fact that its half life is 4.5 billion years and can never be cleaned up.
I have a friend who comes from the area and every time he returns to England he tells me of the very high death rate from an assortment of cancers....especially in the young.......the village graveyards are packed to capacity and now they have to bury their loved ones in some other distant place.
As an example the minimum munitions used by tanks and aircraft during Gulf War 1 amounted to over 286,233 kg of depleted uranium....this was only in relation to tank shells and rounds fired by A10 & A16 aircraft, Harrier's, M1 & M1A, M60A3, Challenger tank and the Phalanx rapid fire guns aboard naval vessels. The latter were also eventually modified to operate from vehicles and trailers in Iraq etc. This does not take into account the larger amount of DU carried in missiles (especially cruise missiles) or the excessive amounts of DU carried in many bombs such as Bunker Buster's and JDAM bombs etc.
The impact of DU ammunition against a hard target creates a fine DU dust that contaminates the impact site. Large amounts of DU dust then drift downwind. Test data from the United States demonstrate that, normally, about 20 percent of a DU penetrator is aerosolized on impact with a tank. The impact of one 120 mm DU tank round could therefore create approximately 950 g of DU dust. During a single attack by an A-10aircraft shooting a burst of 30 mm ammunition, between five and 16 DU bullets will likely hit the target, creating300 to 960 g of aerosol. On must also bear in mind that as with all rapid fire guns many of the projectiles miss there target and embed themselves in soft ground or sand without even going off…….the creates a long term contamination of the land and water systems.
One example that comes to mind is when a DU round from an A10 aircraft lodged in the water supply that created ice for a district in the Balkans…..can one even imagine the spin off from this simply act………the water had been totally contaminated forever which then became ice, which in the summer is consumed in vast quantities. Perhaps now we can start to see the bigger picture as to how one small aspect of a war can expand into a catastrophe.

Below that you will see the response from Dr Bill Wilson (MSP) who obviously takes a more compassionate view on this issue and is a stalwart in revealing the truth behind these weapons.

Thank you for your letter of 8 February about the health of Service personnel
and civilians exposed to Depleted Uranium (DU), and for the list of reference
material.
I remain very conscious many people are concerned there is a link between the
use of DU ammunition and medical problems such as cancers and birth
defects. This is an issue taken very seriously by the Ministry of Defence
(MOD). The cases of illness reported in places such as Iraq are extremely
distressing especially when they affect children. However, I must stress that
DU has not been shown to present the health or environmental risks suggested.
None of the inquiries to date, including those quoted in your letter, has
documented long-term health or environmental effects attributable to DU
munitions.
On the basis of reports by the Royal Society and others, the MOD does not
consider DU is 'safe'. It is hazardous {making the accepted health and safety
distinction here between a hazard and a risk). As a heavy metal (like lead), and
with radioactive properties, DU use, storage, handling, and environmental
considerations are governed by the Radioactive Substance Act 1993 and the
Ionising Radiation Regulations Act that came into effect on 1 January 2000.
These are part of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 enforced by the
Health and Safety Executive.
The precautionary principle you advocate is manifest in our approach to
managing risk on the balance of likelihood and consequences.
On the issue of Service personnel health we have conducted several
investigations into the effects of DU. Some 3,400 Service personnel attended
the Gulf Veterans' Medical Assessment Programme under which no evidence
of ill-health due to DU exposure has been found.
The UN General Assembly draft resolution you refer to calls for action by the
Secretary-General and UN member states based on the alleged harmful effects
of the use of DU munitions on health and the environment, The UK does not
support resolutions that presuppose DU is harmful.
The draft resolution requests states that have used DU in armed conflict to
provide information about its use. I hope you will be reassured to know the UK
has already provided details of this nature to inform studies and the work of the
UN, but it is up to each state to provide data at such a time and in such a
manner as it deems appropriate.
The Government's policy remains that DU can be used within weapons; it is not
prohibited under current or likely future international agreements.
UK armed forces use DU munitions in accordance with international humanitarian law. It
would be quite wrong to deny our serving personnel a legitimate capability.

Liam Fox, Secretary of State for Defence, recently replied to a letter on depleted uranium (DU) from Bill Wilson MSP in which he informed him that whilst DU was not safe, neither did he consider it to be harmful (letter attached).
This has left Bill Wilson feeling slightly confused and he has challenged Liam Fox's view of DU in the letter below. Thank you for your letter of 22 February in response to mine of 8 February. I must admit to astonishment and confusion.
You state that no inquiries have documented long-term health or environmental effects attributable to DU. (To clarify things, we are, of course, referring to the uranium oxide generated when DU weapons are used.)
1) Why have you used the term "long-term" and how do you define it?
2) Do you deny that any health effects, resulting from exposure to DU (uranium oxide), have been documented? If so, how do you explain the coroner's report on Stuart Dyson (http/www.ngvfa.org.uk/news/newsitem.asp?item=48&from=fp),
The Pension Appeal Tribunal Service hearing in Edinburgh regarding Kenny Duncan (http/www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/aberdeen/first-award-for-depleted-uranium-poisoningclaim-1.94325),

I attach a document by Col. J. Edgar Wakayama, of the US Department of Defense, titled "Depleted Uranium (DU) Munitions" (http/www.grassrootspeace.org/wakayama2.pdf). In it he states, amongst other things:
The alpha particle taken inside the body in large doses is hazardous producing:
o Cell damage and cancer,
Note: Lung cancer is well documented.
The beta particle is hazardous to the skin and the lens of the eyes
DU is chemically toxic:
o Due to heavy metal like lead,
o The target organ is the kidney and bone.
Urine samples containing uranium are mutagenic as determined by the Ames test.
The cultured human stem bone cell line with DU also transformed the cells to become carcinogenic.
Emerging environmental concerns include:
o A significant exposure to DU among children playing in the impact sites by ingesting heavily-contaminated soil,
o Slow leaching of DU in local water supplies over years,
o Consuming DU contaminated food sources(animals and plants).
He recommends:
a. Monitoring of kidney function and urine uranium levels among children, peacekeepers, and inhabitants.
b. Epidemiological monitoring of cancer incidents among soldiers surviving during friendly fire and soldiers working for protracted periods in heavily contaminated vehicles, including urine uranium testing, kidney function tests, and neurological evaluations.
3) Please specify what elements of the above you take issue with and explain why.
4) Are you monitoring any soldiers or civilians as recommended?
You state that the MoD does not consider DU to be safe but that the UK does not support resolutions "that presuppose that DU is harmful".
5) Can you explain this apparent contradiction? How can you believe it to be a hazard and, at the same time, attack resolutions that "presuppose" it to be harmful? Just what do you consider DU to be?
6) Why did the UK Government undertake to clean up DU in 2003 if it does not consider it to be harmful? (See attached BBC article. http/news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/2970503.stm)
7) How are studies relating environmental contamination with DU to health effects supposed to be carried out if the UK does not support UN resolutions calling on state users of DU weapons to reveal where the weapons have been fired when countries affected by them ask for such information? You must understand that this gives the impression that the UK and its allies are deliberately refusing to release information on where and how much DU they have deployed in order to prevent epidemiological analysis, and so avoid responsibility for what would amount to a war crime.
In short, if you believe that DU is not harmful why can you not support UN resolutions calling on state users of DU weapons to reveal where the weapons have been fired when countries affected by them ask for such information? Such studies would, if you are correct, disprove any connection between the use of DU and ill health (such as cancers, birth deformities and miscellaneous genotoxic effects).
With regard to the provision of information regarding the use of DU, you state that "the UK has already provided details of this nature to inform studies and the work of the UN, but it is up to each state to provide data at such a time and in such a manner as it deems appropriate". In response, I would say that it is only "up to each state to provide data at such a time and in such a manner as it deems appropriate" because the UK and its allies consider that they have the right to withhold such information!
9) Has the UK revealed the full extent of its use of DU in all the theatres where it has been deployed, detailing all quantities and localities? If not, will you do so now? If not, why not?
You state, "Some 3,400 Service personnel attended the Gulf Veterans' Medical Assessment Programme under which no evidence of ill-health due to DU exposure has been found".
10) If no one looked for the presence of and the effects of exposure to uranium oxide (and other substances produced by radioactive decay) then no evidence would have been found. Please provide full details of the above programme. How many people were examined and in what years? What tests/assessments were used and how many of each type were performed? In particular, what tests were used to detect residues of uranium and the products of its radioactive decay? How long after potential exposure were such tests carried out? Was genetic damage looked for? Can you provide me with a breakdown of the health profile of the people tested, i.e. how many skin complaints, kidney problems, bowel complaints, neurological complaints, cancers, joint problems, etc?
Your last two sentences are astounding: "UK armed forces use DU munitions in accordance with international humanitarian law. It would be quite wrong to deny our serving personnel a legitimate capability".
11) Can you confirm that you stand by these statements and that they were not made in error? Causing disproportionate civilian casualties is a crime against humanity. Uranium oxide dust is widely dispersed and therefore DU weapons are indiscriminate. There has long been significant evidence (provided even by the US military) of the potentia lfor DU weapons to cause significant health problems.
12) In light of the above, how can DU weapons be "legitimate" and how is their use in accord with international humanitarian law?

Finally in closing I should not have to keep repeating the magnitude of the problem environmentally speaking or the magnitude of the problem on the health side,
What I will conclude with is the fact that these weapons in every sense of the world breach the Geneva Convention and anyone who thus knowingly uses them could constitute as being a war criminal.
I would also like to point out that many use the term to "Ban" such weapons from the world's arsenals. I would insist that the termology be changed to "Prohibit"
To summerise:
The contamination from such weapons does not stay within the area of conflict, but rather drifts on the wind to ever corner of the globe. It is killing million over a period of time in both the areas of conflict and also all other downwind countries.
One could extend this to the fact that when the US attacked Baghdad during "Shock and Awe" the contamination arrived on the shores of the UK within 10 days with alarming levels of radiation in the atmosphere.
It is fact that they are pumping into the atmosphere massive contamination. For example 800 tons of DU is the atomicity equivalent of 83,000 Nagasaki bombs. The U.S. has used more DU since 1991 than the atomicity equivalent of 400,000 Nagasaki bombs
This is progressive slow genocide of gigantic proportions and makes the “Holocaust" appear miniscule by comparison.
What is ironic is the fact that the Israeli Government assisted in the development of such weapons and still do to this day and that some of their kinfolk also played a major role in their distribution (by illegal means).
It is also fact that due to the neglect of the US and the UK Governments at least 3 SRAM Nuclear Missiles (US) were stolen from under the eyes of the US and another 3 Battlefield Nuclear Bombs (ex South Africa) were stolen from under the eyes of the British Government (from their insecure compound in Oman)...with the added bonus of £17.8 million of British Tax Payer's money being siphoned off, that later was deposited into the Tory Party Election Fund?...see Hansard June 22 1993 from column 197.
One could ask our current PM about this because he was involved and maybe ask why Lord Hoyle and Margaret Beckett MP did not pursue this in the Houses of Parliament after they had raised the issue? Was it a case of "Too hot to handle?"..either way they are all guilty (and many many more Politicians) of violating the UN Embargo on South African and may also be pulled into an future inquiry on the missing nukes…..”That they all knew about but said nothing.”
They are in breach of the Nuclear Explosions Act 1998 and guilty of fraudulent activities, in receiving such money and could also be named in ongoing war crimes investigations as a result of their gross neglect and in taking our country to war for the wrong reasons and I might add with the wrong country!!
The acceptance in the use of the weapons named above also constitutes as being a war crime, not only against innocent civilians around the world but also against our own troops, knowing the danger's associated with such weapons.
To Dr Wilson - I thank you for your very brave effort in bringing this to the attention of the MoD but I would also insist that it be tabled in the House of Commons and also in the Scottish Parliament so that it is on record.
I will forward you the War Crimes Report that Leuren Moret and I are currently writing as evidence of the facts (as and when it is complete)

Depleted Uranium – World Genocide (Final Part 4)
Here we see a typical daily payload of DU weaponry on a US F15E about to be dropped on a target in Afghanistan. The contamination alone from this one payload will cover a vast area within Afghanistan and then its nanoparticles will travel the world - all in the name of the proposed TAPI pipeline - Afghanistan’s natural resources and the protection of the its lucrative opium crop. Now that’s democracy for you!!
Let’s just spend a moment evaluating how many military personnel have been killed to date, all in the name of "Geo Politics." We can see that the start to 2011 is showing the same trend as the death toll continues to get higher and higher. Does Gen Petraeus really believe he has things under control when most of Afghanistan is still under the control of the Taliban? It is evident that either they sit down and negotiate a peace agreement with the Taliban and other factional groups or they simply pull out and leave Afghanistan to decide its own future and fate.
The ironic part of this terrible mistake of going to war is the fact that 9/11 was an inside job in order to justify a conflict. Add to this the enormous civilian death toll and the ongoing deaths of both civilian and military as a direct result of using weapons that contain uranium components and we can clearly see that this is turning into its own type of "Holocaust."
I have decided to leave the rest of this final part to a staunch activist Leuren Moret (US) who has worked tirelessly on the issue of WMD's, and along with myself, trying to bring those guilty of war crimes to justice. Leuren and I have been working on a war crimes complaint for nearly 18 months and hopefully we will soon release its findings. Leuren gave a very good account some years ago on the DU issue. Here are her own words:
Depleted Uranium - Dirty Bombs, Dirty Missiles, Dirty Bullets
A Death Sentence Here and Abroad

Vietnam was a chemical war for oil, permanently contaminating large regions and countries downriver with Agent Orange, and environmentally the most devastating war in world history. But since 1991, the U.S. has staged four nuclear wars using depleted uranium weaponry, which, like Agent Orange, meets the U.S. government definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Vast regions in the Middle East and Central Asia have been permanently contaminated with radiation.
And what about our soldiers? Terry Jemison of the Department of Veterans Affairs reported this week to the American Free Press that "Gulf-era veterans" now on medical disability since 1991 number 518,739, with only 7,035 reported wounded in Iraq in that same 14-year period.
This week the American Free Press dropped a "dirty bomb" on the Pentagon by reporting that eight out of 20 men who served in one unit in the 2003 U.S. military offensive in Iraq now have malignancies. That means that 40 percent of the soldiers in that unit have developed malignancies in just 16 months.
Since these soldiers were exposed to vaccines and depleted uranium (DU) only, this is strong evidence for researchers and scientists working on this issue, that DU is the definitive cause of Gulf War Syndrome. Vaccines are not known to cause cancer. One of the first published researchers on Gulf War Syndrome, who also served in 1991 in Iraq, Dr. Andras Korényi-Both, is in agreement with Barbara Goodno from the Department of Defense's Deployment Health Support Directorate, that in this war soldiers were not exposed to chemicals, pesticides, bioagents or other suspect causes this time to confuse the issue.
This powerful new evidence is blowing holes in the cover-up perpetrated by the Pentagon and three presidential administrations ever since DU was first used in 1991 in the Persian Gulf War. Fourteen years after the introduction of DU on the battlefield in 1991, the long-term effects have revealed that DU is a death sentence and very nasty stuff.
Scientists studying the biological effects of uranium in the 1960s reported that it targets the DNA. Marion Fulk, a nuclear physical chemist retired from the Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab and formerly involved with the Manhattan Project, interprets the new and rapid malignancies in soldiers from the 2003 war as "spectacular ... and a matter of concern."
This evidence shows that of the three effects which DU has on biological systems - radiation, chemical and particulate - the particulate effect from nano-size particles is the most dominant one immediately after exposure and targets the Master Code in the DNA. This is bad news, but it explains why DU causes a myriad of diseases which are difficult to define.
In simple words, DU "trashes the body." When asked if the main purpose for using it was for destroying things and killing people, Fulk was more specific: "I would say that it is the perfect weapon for killing lots of people."
Soldiers developing malignancies so quickly since 2003 can be expected to develop multiple cancers from independent causes. This phenomenon has been reported by doctors in hospitals treating civilians following NATO bombing with DU in Yugoslavia in 1998-1999 and the U.S. military invasion of Iraq using DU for the first time in 1991. Medical experts report that this phenomenon of multiple malignancies from unrelated causes has been unknown until now and is a new syndrome associated with internal DU exposure.
Just 467 U.S. personnel were wounded in the three-week Persian Gulf War in 1990-1991. Out of 580,400 soldiers who served in Gulf War I, 11,000 are dead, and by 2000 there were 325,000 on permanent medical disability. This astounding number of disabled vets means that a decade later, 56 percent of those soldiers who served now have medical problems.
The number of disabled vets reported up to 2000 has been increasing by 43,000 every year. Brad Flohr of the Department of Veterans Affairs told American Free Press that he believes there are more disabled vets now than even after World War II.
They brought it home
Not only were soldiers exposed to DU on and off the battlefields, but they brought it home. DU in the semen of soldiers internally contaminated their wives, partners and girlfriends. Tragically, some women in their 20s and 30s who were sexual partners of exposed soldiers developed endometriosis and were forced to have hysterectomies because of health problems.
In a group of 251 soldiers from a study group in Mississippi who had all had normal babies before the Gulf War, 67 percent of their post-war babies were born with severe birth defects. They were born with missing legs, arms, organs or eyes or had immune system and blood diseases. In some veterans' families now, the only normal or healthy members of the family are the children born before the war.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has stated that they do not keep records of birth defects occurring in families of veterans.
How did they hide it?
Before a new weapons system can be used, it must be fully tested. The blueprint for depleted uranium weapons is a 1943 declassified document from the Manhattan Project.
Harvard President and physicist James B. Conant, who developed poison gas in World War I, was brought into the Manhattan Project by the father of presidential candidate John Kerry. Kerry's father served at a high level in the Manhattan Project and was a CIA agent.
Conant was chair of the S-1 Poison Gas Committee, which recommended developing poison gas weapons from the radioactive trash of the atomic bomb project in World War II. At that time, it was known that radioactive materials dispersed in bombs from the air, from land vehicles or on the battlefield produced very fine radioactive dust which would penetrate all protective clothing, any gas mask or filter or the skin. By contaminating the lungs and blood, it could kill or cause illness very quickly.
They also recommended it as a permanent terrain contaminant, which could be used to destroy populations by contaminating water supplies and agricultural land with the radioactive dust.
The first DU weapons system was developed for the Navy in 1968, and DU weapons were given to and used by Israel in 1973 under U.S. supervision in the Yom Kippur war against the Arabs.
The Phalanx weapons system, using DU, was tested on the USS Bigelow out of Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in 1977, and DU weapons have been sold by the U.S. to 29 countries.
Military research report summaries detail the testing of DU from 1974-1999 at military testing grounds, bombing and gunnery ranges and at civilian labs under contract. Today 42 states are contaminated with DU from manufacture, testing and deployment.
Women living around these facilities have reported increases in endometriosis, birth defects in babies, leukemia in children and cancers and other diseases in adults. Thousands of tons of DU weapons tested for decades by the Navy on four bombing and gunnery ranges around Fallon, Nevada, is no doubt the cause of the fastest growing leukemia cluster in the U.S. over the past decade. The military denies that DU is the cause.
The medical profession has been active in the cover-up - just as they were in hiding the effects from the American public - of low level radiation from atmospheric testing and nuclear power plants. A medical doctor in Northern California reported being trained by the Pentagon with other doctors, months before the 2003 war started, to diagnose and treat soldiers returning from the 2003 war for mental problems only.
Medical professionals in hospitals and facilities treating returning soldiers were threatened with $10,000 fines if they talked about the soldiers or their medical problems. They were also threatened with jail.
Reporters have also been prevented access to more than 14,000 medically evacuated soldiers flown nightly since the 2003 war in C-150s from Germany who are brought to Walter Reed Hospital near Washington, D.C.
Dr. Robert Gould, former president of the Bay Area chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), has contacted three medical doctors since February 2004, after I had been invited to speak about DU. Dr. Katharine Thomasson, president of the Oregon chapter of the PSR, informed me that Dr. Gould had contacted her and tried to convince her to cancel her invitation for me to speak about DU at Portland State University on April 12. Although I was able to do a presentation, Dr. Thomasson told me I could only talk about DU in Oregon "and nothing overseas ... nothing political."
Dr. Gould also contacted and discouraged Dr. Ross Wilcox in Toronto, Canada, from inviting me to speak to Physicians for Global Survival (PGS), the Canadian equivalent of PSR, several months later. After the woman had pumped Dr. Sherman for information all through lunch about her position on key issues, the woman informed Dr. Sherman that her last job had been with the CIA.
How was the truth about DU hidden from military personnel serving in successive DU wars? Before his tragic death, Sen. Paul Wellstone informed Joyce Riley, R.N., B.S.N., executive director of the American Gulf War Veterans Association, that 95 percent of Gulf War veterans had been recycled out of the military by 1995. Any of those continuing in military service were isolated from each other, preventing critical information being transferred to new troops. The "next DU war" had already been planned, and those planning it wanted "no skunk at the garden party."

A new book just published at the American Free Press by Michael Collins Piper, "The High Priests of War: The Secret History of How America's Neo-Conservative Trotskyites Came to Power and Orchestrated the War Against Iraq as the First Step in Their Drive for Global Empire," details the early plans for a war against the Arab world by Henry Kissinger and the neo-cons in the late 1960s and early 1970s. That just happens to coincide with getting the DU "show on the road" and the oil crisis in the Middle East, which caused concern not only to President Nixon. The British had been plotting and scheming for control of the oil in Iraq for decades since first using poison gas on the Iraqis and Kurds in 1912.
The book details the creation of the neo-cons by their "godfather" and Trotsky lover Irving Kristol, who pushed for a "war against terrorism" long before 9/11 and was lavishly funded for years by the CIA. His son, William Kristol, is one of the most influential men in the United States.
Both are public relations men for the Israeli lobby's neo-conservative network, with strong ties to Rupert Murdoch. Kissinger also has ties to this network and the Carlyle Group, who, one could say, have facilitated these omnicidal wars beginning from the time former President Bush took office. It would be easy to say that we are recycling World Wars I and II, with the same faces.
When I asked Vietnam Special Ops Green Beret Capt. John McCarthy, who could have devised this omnicidal plan to use DU to destroy the genetic code and genetic future of large populations of Arabs and Moslems in the Middle East and Central Asia - just coincidentally the areas where most of the world's oil deposits are located - he replied: "It has all the handprints of Henry Kissinger."
In Zbignew Brzezinski's book "The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives," the map of the Eurasian chessboard includes four regions strategic to U.S. foreign policy. The "South" region corresponds precisely to the regions now contaminated permanently with radiation from U.S. bombs, missiles and bullets made with thousands of tons of DU.
A Japanese professor, Dr. K. Yagasaki, has calculated that 800 tons of DU is the atomicity equivalent of 83,000 Nagasaki bombs. The U.S. has used more DU since 1991 than the atomicity equivalent of 400,000 Nagasaki bombs. Four nuclear wars indeed, and 10 times the amount of radiation released into the atmosphere from atmospheric testing!
No wonder our soldiers, their families and the people of the Middle East, Yugoslavia and Central Asia are sick. But as Henry Kissinger said after Vietnam when our soldiers came home ill from Agent Orange, "Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used for foreign policy."
Unfortunately, more and more of those soldiers are men and women with brown skin. And unfortunately, the DU radioactive dust will be carried around the world and deposited in our environments just as the "smog of war" from the 1991 Gulf War was found in deposits in South America, the Himalayas and Hawaii.
In June 2003, the World Health Organization announced in a press release that global cancer rates will increase 50 percent by 2020. What else do they know that they aren't telling us? I know that depleted uranium is a death sentence ... for all of us. We will all die in silent ways.

Finally I will now deal with another chapter in history that not only reveals the "Under the radar tactics" of both the US and British Governments but also their gross neglect in safeguarding their citizens and at the same time carrying out massive political fraud to line their own pockets and there associated party.
Some years ago a B52 that was carrying a belly full of "Nuclear SRAM Missiles" developed serious mechanical problems and had to return to its base whilst overhead Iraq. The Saudi Government would not allow such an aircraft to carryout out an emergency landing on its soil so the aircraft headed south towards the Gulf of Aden.
As it neared the coast of Somalia the onboard situation was becoming very serious, leaving the crew no option but to jettison the bomb load in shallow water off the coast. The aircraft proceeded towards Diego Garcia (British Territory) where it crashed into the sea killing some of its crew on the 3rd of February 1991.
Dick Cheney who was notified of the situation did nothing about it for some considerable time and in the meanwhile, John Bredenkamp, a notorious arms dealer, just so happened to be running a diving team in the region, came across them.
Bredenkamp then sold them on the black-market. It was believed that the US had thought that these very sensitive weapons had been hauled ashore in Somalia and could have given rise to the US actions in Somalia i.e. Black Hawk Down etc. So due to the gross neglect of Cheney at least three nuclear weapons went missing.
Now we come to the great British cock-up of all time.
South Africa had been secretly developing its own nuclear weapons programme with the assistance of the Israelis and under the radar of the UN during the sanctions. However our dear Tory party researcher, who was only 24 at the time (our current PM), decided to go down to South Africa with Sir Kenneth Warren and between them sew up a deal that would net a commission of £17.8 million for the Tory Parry election funds.
This highly illegal and yet highly profitable private deal was orchestrated by the above under the watchful eye of dear Maggie Thatcher. Many other known senior politicians were also involved and was clearly a good deal for the elite boys club.
Basically the whole story stemmed from a very clever programme of creating 10 battlefield ready nuclear bombs that could be loaded onboard a South African Air force - British Built Canberra or Buccaneer aircraft and used as required. One of these bombs was tested near Prince Edward Island of the SE coast of Africa.
During these dark times in South Africa's history, the United Nations Security Council Resolution 418 of 4 November 1977 introduced a mandatory arms embargo against South Africa, also requiring all states to refrain from "any co-operation with South Africa in the manufacture and development of nuclear weapons."........what the UN didn't know is that the US, UK and Israeli Governments were all aware and yet were clearly in violation of the UN Resolution. It also became apparent that this was also in violation of PM Tony Blair's Nuclear Explosions Act 1998.
With the South African change of regime rapidly approaching and with the Gulf War in full swing the powers that be made a decision that the remaining 9 nuclear bombs must never fall in the hands of the blacks. It was agreed that these weapons would be shipped to Chicago for de commissioning.
In the meantime Maggie Thatcher was not happy with the progress of the war and requested if she could purchase three of the nukes to go on standby to use against Saddam Hussein, should he not toe the line. This resulted in 6 being shipped to the US and the other three were shipped, without security for storage in Oman.
The shipment took place using three standard 20' sea containers with a secret access panel tailored into the side so that the core temperature of the nuclear bomb could be checked at any time.. The dispatch of these weapons and their safe handover was the responsibility of Dr David Kelly who was later assassinated for knowing too much.
Our illustrious John Bredenkamp was yet again involved and arranged for them to be moved to Oman where they were again stored without security in his friend’s compound. It became apparent that Bredenkamp knew all the ins and outs of illegal arms dealing and also knew that at any stage he could do what he wanted and that is exactly what he did. Dr Kelly incidentally was responsible for checking the consignment upon arrival before the British Government released the money.
Very discreetly Bredenkamp switched each sea container with identical sea containers only his contained nothing more that concrete to the same value as the bombs. The stolen bombs that Bredenkamp had originally delivered were yet again sold on the black market to who knows where....except to say it was believed that they did in actual fact go to Iraq but where then re located by road to Syria onboard three ambulances.
We have to understand the implications of this terrible act of greed and neglect that was carried out by the conservative party. The £17.8 that was paid into the Tory Party was never accounted for even though this issue was raised in Parliament by none other than Margaret Beckett - HANSARD JUNE 22 1993 from Column 197
We again come back to the Maggie Thatcher manipulation of the above when she sent her apron string messenger, David Cameron, with others, down to South Africa for an all expenses paid jolly.
That trip was fully financed by ARMSCOR and took place 1989. It included a trip to Pelindarba, the nuclear facility and where the nine remaining weapons were stored. It was after this trip that six of the nine were shipped directly to Chicago and the remaining three were eventually shipped from Durban to Oman in a very insecure manner, stored insecurely in Oman and then very cleverly stolen by the arms dealer who sold them.
As a direct result of this gross neglect by Margaret Thatcher, John Major,, David Cameron, Kenneth Warren, David Wiltshire, Peter Lilley and so many other high profile people such as Kenneth Clark, Lord MacAlpine etc we created a major security problem for the West and Israel by not knowing who had now got the missing weapons. Equally so the Labour Party were also implicated in this issue namely Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Alastair Campbell and so many more.
It must be clearly understood that this entire fiasco all started off with Israeli selling its technology and for the West in general also watching this happen and at the same time allowing their palms to be tarnished with blood money. The final outcome resulted in a war with the wrong country and the nuclear threat still looming over our heads, not knowing who has the weapons now!!
One can only hope that the words of William Shakespeare echo around the corridors of Westminster when he wrote:
"Friends Romans and Countrymen lend me your ears" and later said "The evil that men do lives after them, so let it be."
I am sure most of the political figures and corporate sector moguls who I have named time and time again in my articles, especially in the Pandora Box series, must now be starting to feel a little uncomfortable and realising that Shakespeare hit the nail on the head.......all I can say to all those in rogues gallery is watch out we are still after you and your time will come when justice will seek its sweet revenge.

Let’s just spend a moment evaluating how many military personnel have been killed to date, all in the name of "Geo Politics." We can see that the start to 2011 is showing the same trend as the death toll continues to get higher and higher. Does Gen Petraeus really believe he has things under control when most of Afghanistan is still under the control of the Taliban? It is evident that either they sit down and negotiate a peace agreement with the Taliban and other factional groups or they simply pull out and leave Afghanistan to decide its own future and fate.
The ironic part of this terrible mistake of going to war is the fact that 9/11 was an inside job in order to justify a conflict. Add to this the enormous civilian death toll and the ongoing deaths of both civilian and military as a direct result of using weapons that contain uranium components and we can clearly see that this is turning into its own type of "Holocaust."
I have decided to leave the rest of this final part to a staunch activist Leuren Moret (US) who has worked tirelessly on the issue of WMD's, and along with myself, trying to bring those guilty of war crimes to justice. Vietnam was a chemical war for oil, permanently contaminating large regions and countries downriver with Agent Orange, and environmentally the most devastating war in world history. But since 1991, the U.S. has staged four nuclear wars using depleted uranium weaponry, which, like Agent Orange, meets the U.S. government definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Vast regions in the Middle East and Central Asia have been permanently contaminated with radiation.
And what about our soldiers? Terry Jemison of the Department of Veterans Affairs reported this week to the American Free Press that "Gulf-era veterans" now on medical disability since 1991 number 518,739, with only 7,035 reported wounded in Iraq in that same 14-year period.
This week the American Free Press dropped a "dirty bomb" on the Pentagon by reporting that eight out of 20 men who served in one unit in the 2003 U.S. military offensive in Iraq now have malignancies. That means that 40 percent of the soldiers in that unit have developed malignancies in just 16 months.
Since these soldiers were exposed to vaccines and depleted uranium (DU) only, this is strong evidence for researchers and scientists working on this issue, that DU is the definitive cause of Gulf War Syndrome. Vaccines are not known to cause cancer. One of the first published researchers on Gulf War Syndrome, who also served in 1991 in Iraq, Dr. Andras Korényi-Both, is in agreement with Barbara Goodno from the Department of Defense's Deployment Health Support Directorate, that in this war soldiers were not exposed to chemicals, pesticides, bioagents or other suspect causes this time to confuse the issue.
This powerful new evidence is blowing holes in the cover-up perpetrated by the Pentagon and three presidential administrations ever since DU was first used in 1991 in the Persian Gulf War. Fourteen years after the introduction of DU on the battlefield in 1991, the long-term effects have revealed that DU is a death sentence and very nasty stuff.
Scientists studying the biological effects of uranium in the 1960s reported that it targets the DNA. Marion Fulk, a nuclear physical chemist retired from the Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab and formerly involved with the Manhattan Project, interprets the new and rapid malignancies in soldiers from the 2003 war as "spectacular ... and a matter of concern."
This evidence shows that of the three effects which DU has on biological systems - radiation, chemical and particulate - the particulate effect from nano-size particles is the most dominant one immediately after exposure and targets the Master Code in the DNA. This is bad news, but it explains why DU causes a myriad of diseases which are difficult to define.
In simple words, DU "trashes the body." When asked if the main purpose for using it was for destroying things and killing people, Fulk was more specific: "I would say that it is the perfect weapon for killing lots of people."
Soldiers developing malignancies so quickly since 2003 can be expected to develop multiple cancers from independent causes. This phenomenon has been reported by doctors in hospitals treating civilians following NATO bombing with DU in Yugoslavia in 1998-1999 and the U.S. military invasion of Iraq using DU for the first time in 1991. Medical experts report that this phenomenon of multiple malignancies from unrelated causes has been unknown until now and is a new syndrome associated with internal DU exposure.
Just 467 U.S. personnel were wounded in the three-week Persian Gulf War in 1990-1991. Out of 580,400 soldiers who served in Gulf War I, 11,000 are dead, and by 2000 there were 325,000 on permanent medical disability. This astounding number of disabled vets means that a decade later, 56 percent of those soldiers who served now have medical problems.
The number of disabled vets reported up to 2000 has been increasing by 43,000 every year. Brad Flohr of the Department of Veterans Affairs told American Free Press that he believes there are more disabled vets now than even after World War II.
They brought it home
Not only were soldiers exposed to DU on and off the battlefields, but they brought it home. DU in the semen of soldiers internally contaminated their wives, partners and girlfriends. Tragically, some women in their 20s and 30s who were sexual partners of exposed soldiers developed endometriosis and were forced to have hysterectomies because of health problems.
In a group of 251 soldiers from a study group in Mississippi who had all had normal babies before the Gulf War, 67 percent of their post-war babies were born with severe birth defects. They were born with missing legs, arms, organs or eyes or had immune system and blood diseases. In some veterans' families now, the only normal or healthy members of the family are the children born before the war.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has stated that they do not keep records of birth defects occurring in families of veterans.
How did they hide it?
Before a new weapons system can be used, it must be fully tested. The blueprint for depleted uranium weapons is a 1943 declassified document from the Manhattan Project.
Harvard President and physicist James B. Conant, who developed poison gas in World War I, was brought into the Manhattan Project by the father of presidential candidate John Kerry. Kerry's father served at a high level in the Manhattan Project and was a CIA agent.
Conant was chair of the S-1 Poison Gas Committee, which recommended developing poison gas weapons from the radioactive trash of the atomic bomb project in World War II. At that time, it was known that radioactive materials dispersed in bombs from the air, from land vehicles or on the battlefield produced very fine radioactive dust which would penetrate all protective clothing, any gas mask or filter or the skin. By contaminating the lungs and blood, it could kill or cause illness very quickly.
They also recommended it as a permanent terrain contaminant, which could be used to destroy populations by contaminating water supplies and agricultural land with the radioactive dust.
The first DU weapons system was developed for the Navy in 1968, and DU weapons were given to and used by Israel in 1973 under U.S. supervision in the Yom Kippur war against the Arabs.
The Phalanx weapons system, using DU, was tested on the USS Bigelow out of Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in 1977, and DU weapons have been sold by the U.S. to 29 countries.
Military research report summaries detail the testing of DU from 1974-1999 at military testing grounds, bombing and gunnery ranges and at civilian labs under contract. Today 42 states are contaminated with DU from manufacture, testing and deployment.
Women living around these facilities have reported increases in endometriosis, birth defects in babies, leukemia in children and cancers and other diseases in adults. Thousands of tons of DU weapons tested for decades by the Navy on four bombing and gunnery ranges around Fallon, Nevada, is no doubt the cause of the fastest growing leukemia cluster in the U.S. over the past decade. The military denies that DU is the cause.
The medical profession has been active in the cover-up - just as they were in hiding the effects from the American public - of low level radiation from atmospheric testing and nuclear power plants. A medical doctor in Northern California reported being trained by the Pentagon with other doctors, months before the 2003 war started, to diagnose and treat soldiers returning from the 2003 war for mental problems only.
Medical professionals in hospitals and facilities treating returning soldiers were threatened with $10,000 fines if they talked about the soldiers or their medical problems. They were also threatened with jail.
Reporters have also been prevented access to more than 14,000 medically evacuated soldiers flown nightly since the 2003 war in C-150s from Germany who are brought to Walter Reed Hospital near Washington, D.C.
Dr. Robert Gould, former president of the Bay Area chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), has contacted three medical doctors since February 2004, after I had been invited to speak about DU. Dr. Katharine Thomasson, president of the Oregon chapter of the PSR, informed me that Dr. Gould had contacted her and tried to convince her to cancel her invitation for me to speak about DU at Portland State University on April 12. Although I was able to do a presentation, Dr. Thomasson told me I could only talk about DU in Oregon "and nothing overseas ... nothing political."

And unfortunately, the DU radioactive dust will be carried around the world and deposited in our environments just as the "smog of war" from the 1991 Gulf War was found in deposits in South America, the Himalayas and Hawaii.
In June 2003, the World Health Organization announced in a press release that global cancer rates will increase 50 percent by 2020. What else do they know that they aren't telling us? I know that depleted uranium is a death sentence ... for all of us. We will all die in silent ways.

Finally I will now deal with another chapter in history that not only reveals the "Under the radar tactics" of both the US and British Governments but also their gross neglect in safeguarding their citizens and at the same time carrying out massive political fraud to line their own pockets and there associated party.
Some years ago a B52 that was carrying a belly full of "Nuclear SRAM Missiles" developed serious mechanical problems and had to return to its base whilst overhead Iraq. The Saudi Government would not allow such an aircraft to carryout out an emergency landing on its soil so the aircraft headed south towards the Gulf of Aden.
As it neared the coast of Somalia the onboard situation was becoming very serious, leaving the crew no option but to jettison the bomb load in shallow water off the coast. The aircraft proceeded towards Diego Garcia (British Territory) where it crashed into the sea killing some of its crew on the 3rd of February 1991.
Dick Cheney who was notified of the situation did nothing about it for some considerable time and in the meanwhile, John Bredenkamp, a notorious arms dealer, just so happened to be running a diving team in the region, came across them.
Bredenkamp then sold them on the black-market. It was believed that the US had thought that these very sensitive weapons had been hauled ashore in Somalia and could have given rise to the US actions in Somalia i.e. Black Hawk Down etc. So due to the gross neglect of Cheney at least three nuclear weapons went missing.
Now we come to the great British cock-up of all time.
South Africa had been secretly developing its own nuclear weapons programme with the assistance of the Israelis and under the radar of the UN during the sanctions. However our dear Tory party researcher, who was only 24 at the time (our current PM), decided to go down to South Africa with Sir Kenneth Warren and between them sew up a deal that would net a commission of £17.8 million for the Tory Parry election funds.
This highly illegal and yet highly profitable private deal was orchestrated by the above under the watchful eye of dear Maggie Thatcher. Many other known senior politicians were also involved and was clearly a good deal for the elite boys club.
Basically the whole story stemmed from a very clever programme of creating 10 battlefield ready nuclear bombs that could be loaded onboard a South African Air force - British Built Canberra or Buccaneer aircraft and used as required. One of these bombs was tested near Prince Edward Island of the SE coast of Africa.
During these dark times in South Africa's history, the United Nations Security Council Resolution 418 of 4 November 1977 introduced a mandatory arms embargo against South Africa, also requiring all states to refrain from "any co-operation with South Africa in the manufacture and development of nuclear weapons."........what the UN didn't know is that the US, UK and Israeli Governments were all aware and yet were clearly in violation of the UN Resolution. It also became apparent that this was also in violation of PM Tony Blair's Nuclear Explosions Act 1998.
With the South African change of regime rapidly approaching and with the Gulf War in full swing the powers that be made a decision that the remaining 9 nuclear bombs must never fall in the hands of the blacks. It was agreed that these weapons would be shipped to Chicago for de commissioning.
In the meantime Maggie Thatcher was not happy with the progress of the war and requested if she could purchase three of the nukes to go on standby to use against Saddam Hussein, should he not toe the line. This resulted in 6 being shipped to the US and the other three were shipped, without security for storage in Oman.
The shipment took place using three standard 20' sea containers with a secret access panel tailored into the side so that the core temperature of the nuclear bomb could be checked at any time.. The dispatch of these weapons and their safe handover was the responsibility of Dr David Kelly who was later assassinated for knowing too much.
Our illustrious John Bredenkamp was yet again involved and arranged for them to be moved to Oman where they were again stored without security in his friend’s compound. It became apparent that Bredenkamp knew all the ins and outs of illegal arms dealing and also knew that at any stage he could do what he wanted and that is exactly what he did. Dr Kelly incidentally was responsible for checking the consignment upon arrival before the British Government released the money.
Very discreetly Bredenkamp switched each sea container with identical sea containers only his contained nothing more that concrete to the same value as the bombs. The stolen bombs that Bredenkamp had originally delivered were yet again sold on the black market to who knows where....except to say it was believed that they did in actual fact go to Iraq but where then re located by road to Syria onboard three ambulances.
We have to understand the implications of this terrible act of greed and neglect that was carried out by the conservative party. The £17.8 that was paid into the Tory Party was never accounted for even though this issue was raised in Parliament by none other than Margaret Beckett - HANSARD JUNE 22 1993 from Column 197
We again come back to the Maggie Thatcher manipulation of the above when she sent her apron string messenger, David Cameron, with others, down to South Africa for an all expenses paid jolly.
That trip was fully financed by ARMSCOR and took place 1989. It included a trip to Pelindarba, the nuclear facility and where the nine remaining weapons were stored. It was after this trip that six of the nine were shipped directly to Chicago and the remaining three were eventually shipped from Durban to Oman in a very insecure manner, stored insecurely in Oman and then very cleverly stolen by the arms dealer who sold them.
As a direct result of this gross neglect by Margaret Thatcher, John Major,, David Cameron, Kenneth Warren, David Wiltshire, Peter Lilley and so many other high profile people such as Kenneth Clark, Lord MacAlpine etc we created a major security problem for the West and Israel by not knowing who had now got the missing weapons. Equally so the Labour Party were also implicated in this issue namely Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Alastair Campbell and so many more.
It must be clearly understood that this entire fiasco all started off with Israeli selling its technology and for the West in general also watching this happen and at the same time allowing their palms to be tarnished with blood money. The final outcome resulted in a war with the wrong country and the nuclear threat still looming over our heads, not knowing who has the weapons now!!
One can only hope that the words of William Shakespeare echo around the corridors of Westminster when he wrote:
"Friends Romans and Countrymen lend me your ears" and later said "The evil that men do lives after them, so let it be."
I am sure most of the political figures and corporate sector moguls who I have named time and time again in my articles, especially in the Pandora Box series, must now be starting to feel a little uncomfortable and realising that Shakespeare hit the nail on the head.......all I can say to all those in rogues gallery is watch out we are still after you and your time will come when justice will seek its sweet revenge.

Scottish Parliamentarian asks US ambassador re “character assassination” of depleted uranium (DU) activists and US compliance with DU health directives
Member of the Scottish Parliament, Dr Bill Wilson, is raising the issue of depleted uranium (DU) with the US ambassador to the UK. In a letter to Ambassador Louis B. Susman, he has asked whether a person who has been “scurrilously attacking the credibility of [DU] informants” is or was employed by any wing of the US Government or military. He has also asked Ambassador Susman what the US Government is doing to ensure compliance with various US and international regulations, directives, bulletins and medical orders pertaining to DU, and drawn his attention to reports of a US Army order to destroy military records.
Dr Wilson said, “In the course of campaigning for openness and justice with regard to the use of DU weapons, I have been contacted by an individual who seems intent on discrediting those seeking to expose the impact of this hideous radioactive substance and to champion the health and welfare of those affected by it. I have seen enough evidence to be convinced that DU shells have been widely used by the USA and the UK, with grave consequences for the health of both civilians and service personnel, in flagrant breach of numerous medical orders etc. I therefore suspect the motives of the individual who has been attempting to assassinate the characters of my informants and would like to know if he has any official connections with the US government.
“If DU has a fraction of the health impact that I believe it does, then the moral, legal and financial ramifications of its use, and of any attempts to cover these up or obstruct their investigation, would be enormous. If those in positions of authority in the USA and UK have a shred of integrity they will act now to thoroughly investigate the situation, to comply with all regulations and recommendations, to clear up the mess they have left behind in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, and to diagnose and treat those affected.
“I have spoken of the impact on women in Fallujah – advised not to have children because the risk of deformity is so high. It’s not only civilians who are suffering, however. Not least affected are UK and US service personnel, who, I am led to believe, have been badly let down by the countries they risked their lives for. At least the Italian Ministry of Defence was previously held to account in court for its failure to protect its troops against DU. If our governments do not act now to remedy things then they will certainly be condemned by history.”

In the course of campaigning on the issue of depleted uranium and its effects on civilians and service personnel (the last press release may be found here), I have got to know many dedicated scientists and campaigners. However, I have also made the acquaintance of someone calling himself “[NAME REDACTED]”. He has, on more than one occasion, sent me emails scurrilously attacking the credibility of my informants. I know, from various documents I have seen, that his attacks are baseless. I have also been supplied with other information on [NAME REDACTED], which suggests his stock-in-trade is character assassination and his mission is to do whatever it takes to discredit those working to uncover the truth about depleted uranium and to protect the health of civilians and service personnel. The suggestion has been made that Mr [NAME REDACTED] even adopts the identity of those he seeks to discredit in some of his correspondence, the better to spread confusion and disinformation. I am led to believe that he is, or was, associated with the Pentagon. I would be very grateful if you could let me know whether he is, or was ever, employed by any wing of the US Government or military in any capacity and, if so, in what capacity or capacities?

I would further be obliged if you could let me know why the United States appears to deny that there are significant adverse health and environmental effects from the use of uranium weapons when Colonel J. Edgar Wakayama clearly stated that there are serious adverse health effects and adverse environmental effects in his Pentagon briefing. I attach a copy of the relevant document.
Finally, you will find attached a report from the Army Times website, dated Friday 11 February 2011 and titled “Army told units to trash Gulf War docs”, which includes the words: “Not just the after-action reports have been destroyed or are missing. According to some files, when some veterans come to the Veterans Administration to get help for service-related disabilities, records show they served, but medical records are missing.” This looks like an attempt to prevent veterans seeking compensation and proper medical treatment for the hazards to which they may have been exposed. Furthermore, it is obvious that the destruction of records would make it more difficult to prove any links between exposure to certain substances, including depleted uranium, and ill health. This has relevance to everyone who has potentially been exposed to these substances, be they civilians or service personnel from other countries, including Scotland, and their families. The destruction of US Army records could thus be viewed as an act with serious international repercussions. I would be interested in your comments on this matter.

I myself have considerable experience on the DU issue as well as the use of other WMD and illegal weapons used in such areas as the Balkans, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Gaza, Somalia and now North Pakistan and Yemen.
I and Lauren Moret (US) are currently compiling a War Crimes Report on these evil weapons, who used them and where, who was responsible for these crimes and what is the effect on the populations of the world. We both have found our investigations very distressing to say the least.
I have over a long period of time been working out how these radioactive nanoparticles move from the fields of conflict and drift over the entire globe.....to work on such a chart takes considerable time as you have to take into account the different levels i.e. Low - Mid - Upper level air flows and jet streams and then select each and every area.
The charts in general gives a general overview of the main wind flows but one has to also take into account the local weather patterns such as the coastal winds, mountain winds, monsoon flows, pressure systems and the normal hot and cold cycles. All in all it was very interesting exercise to work out the many charts I have done and hopefully will show in simple terms how these mini nukes contaminate our atmosphere, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat.
One must be mindful of the fact that these weapons are used on a daily basis somewhere and do not recognise international borders, they float around on the wind and create secondary contamination at such times as sand storms etc.
They will, in the main, return to mother earth when it rains or snows and especially during monsoonal flows, which is when the military use them to distribute their contamination in the best possible way. We have already seen the world’s military deposit
We have to remember that this contamination is on going and remains in situ for 4.5 billion years and as I pointed out to you in my last article the following example:
"800 tons of DU is the atomicity equivalent of 83,000 Nagasaki bombs. The U.S. has used more DU since 1991 than the atomicity equivalent of 400,000 Nagasaki bombs"
My airflow chart below shows some of the main areas of conflict (marked by stars) and you will see the extent of the problem:
Below is my airflow chart that is applicable during monsoonal flows or cyclones when the airborne nanoparticles come down to earth in mass and contaminate the land and water. You must also note that in regard to the Himalaya’s and areas due east of them, vast amounts of radioactive nanoparticles are dumped to contaminates the main river arteries of China, Southeast Asia and the Far East.
Finally we have a very alarming even that took place during the "Shock and Awa" attack on Baghdad some years ago which gave rise to great concern here in the United Kingdom.
As I have previously pointed out to you that radiation contamination respects no international borders as we found out with Chernobyl and its effect on North Wales for example.
When these "Mini Nukes or WMD's" are used they can for example arrive on our shores within 7-10 days from their far away battlefield (as was the case during "Shock and Awe). The nuclear establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire, England (not far from London) for example is the home of the UK's nuclear weapons programme....otherwise known as The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), which develops, maintains, and disposes of the UK's nuclear weaponry.
Because of its existence it is required to monitor the atmosphere in the area by way of atmospheric filters to detect levels of radioactivity from its own facility or in this case of DU from some far away battlefield.
Dr Chris Busby, under the "Freedom of Information Act," was able to obtain the report concerning high levels of atmospheric radioactivity that had arrived on our doorstep from Baghdad. The report was a closely guarded secret and was kept under lock and key owing to its startling findings (unknown to the people in the region and beyond.
One has to understand that when such areas are central to a low pressure system the wind and weather vortex pulls the contamination into a tight circle that unfortunately, on this occasion, happened to be centred in the Reading - Berkshire area which is up wind from the City of London.
After considerable effort by Dr Busby and despite the refusal by the owners of the establishment to release the information, Chris obtained the report which shows the follow graph that clearly highlights the spike in contamination........it must be made clear that this is not the only spike that has occurred....in actual fact there are others that just so happen to coincide with major bombing campaigns in the Middle East such as the "Tora Bora" bombing in Afghanistan etc.
The graphs below show the actual peaks that were recorded at AWE Aldermaston.....the additional notations have since been added to explain the possible reason for such hikes in airborne contaminations.

Figures 15 and 16: High volume air monitoring data (2001-2003) of fine atmospheric dust and radioactivity, measured depleted uranium levels reaching Britain from Iraq and Afghanistan in 7-9 days. During the 2003 ‘Shock and Awe’ heavy bombing campaign in Iraq, the concentration of depleted uranium particles in the British atmosphere was 45,000 particles per cubic meter. Data is from the British nuclear weapons facility at Aldermaston AWE, Berkshire, in the U.K.

It is our duty of care to protect the world’s environment and the people that live on this planet. We must all endeavor to make sure that all weapons that contain any form of uranium in their components are prohibited permanently from the world's military arsenal. The existing efforts by President Obama is an absolute con and does not reveal the truth behind the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT)...its seeks to remove the out dated large nuclear weapons but encourages the mass production of the smaller nukes that have a dial up category of not more that 5 kiloton. These weapons are not covered under the existing NPT and are currently being developed and produced. Add to this all the weapons that contain DU etc and we can clearly see a major problem developing of gigantic proportions......this basically all amounts to mass depopulation or genocide and will make the holocaust look miniscule by comparison...enough is enough.
Here we see yet another jet jockey about to offload his deadly cargo onto the people of Afghanistan....I wonder if he knows that he himself, his family and fellow vets could also become a victim of their own US arsenal.
My final Part 4 of the current series will focus on DU with a full summary by a staunch activist along with the fact that Tactical Nuclear Weapons have been used in the battlefield. Many people believe that the last time nukes were used was in Japan during WW2.....wrong....they have been used in and around the Middle East.....unfortunately Afghanistan has and is bearing the brunt of these evil weapons.
Finally we will again cover the missing nukes that were lost compliments of the US Government and the three "Battlefield ready bombs" that were purchased illegally and then lost (stolen) by the Thatcher government, with the help of our current Prime Minister who was only a 24 year old researcher at the time.

Dear Ambassador Susman
[NAME REDACTED] and the US approach to depleted uranium regulations
In the course of campaigning on the issue of depleted uranium and its effects on civilians and service personnel (the last press release may be found here), I have got to know many dedicated scientists and campaigners. However, I have also made the acquaintance of someone calling himself “[NAME REDACTED]”. He has, on more than one occasion, sent me emails scurrilously attacking the credibility of my informants. I know, from various documents I have seen, that his attacks are baseless. I have also been supplied with other information on [NAME REDACTED], which suggests his stock-in-trade is character assassination and his mission is to do whatever it takes to discredit those working to uncover the truth about depleted uranium and to protect the health of civilians and service personnel. The suggestion has been made that Mr [NAME REDACTED] even adopts the identity of those he seeks to discredit in some of his correspondence, the better to spread confusion and disinformation. I am led to believe that he is, or was, associated with the Pentagon. I would be very grateful if you could let me know whether he is, or was ever, employed by any wing of the US Government or military in any capacity and, if so, in what capacity or capacities?
I would also be grateful if you could tell me what the US Government is doing to ensure compliance with:
• Army Regulation 700–48 (Management of Equipment Contaminated with Depleted Uranium or Radioactive Commodities)

I would further be obliged if you could let me know why the United States appears to deny that there are significant adverse health and environmental effects from the use of uranium weapons when Colonel J. Edgar Wakayama clearly stated that there are serious adverse health effects and adverse environmental effects in his Pentagon briefing. I attach a copy of the relevant document.
Finally, you will find attached a report from the Army Times website, dated Friday 11 February 2011 and titled “Army told units to trash Gulf War docs”, which includes the words: “Not just the after-action reports have been destroyed or are missing. According to some files, when some veterans come to the Veterans Administration to get help for service-related disabilities, records show they served, but medical records are missing.” This looks like an attempt to prevent veterans seeking compensation and proper medical treatment for the hazards to which they may have been exposed. Furthermore, it is obvious that the destruction of records would make it more difficult to prove any links between exposure to certain substances, including depleted uranium, and ill health. This has relevance to everyone who has potentially been exposed to these substances, be they civilians or service personnel from other countries, including Scotland, and their families. The destruction of US Army records could thus be viewed as an act with serious international repercussions. I would be interested in your comments on this matter.

I myself have considerable experience on the DU issue as well as the use of other WMD and illegal weapons used in such areas as the Balkans, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Gaza, Somalia and now North Pakistan and Yemen.
I and Lauren Moret (US) are currently compiling a War Crimes Report on these evil weapons, who used them and where, who was responsible for these crimes and what is the effect on the populations of the world. We both have found our investigations very distressing to say the least.
I have over a long period of time been working out how these radioactive nanoparticles move from the fields of conflict and drift over the entire globe.....to work on such a chart takes considerable time as you have to take into account the different levels i.e. Low - Mid - Upper level air flows and jet streams and then select each and every area.
The charts in general gives a general overview of the main wind flows but one has to also take into account the local weather patterns such as the coastal winds, mountain winds, monsoon flows, pressure systems and the normal hot and cold cycles. All in all it was very interesting exercise to work out the many charts I have done and hopefully will show in simple terms how these mini nukes contaminate our atmosphere, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat.
One must be mindful of the fact that these weapons are used on a daily basis somewhere and do not recognise international borders, they float around on the wind and create secondary contamination at such times as sand storms etc.
They will, in the main, return to mother earth when it rains or snows and especially during monsoonal flows, which is when the military use them to distribute their contamination in the best possible way. We have already seen the world’s military deposit
We have to remember that this contamination is on going and remains in situ for 4.5 billion years and as I pointed out to you in my last article the following example:
"800 tons of DU is the atomicity equivalent of 83,000 Nagasaki bombs. The U.S. has used more DU since 1991 than the atomicity equivalent of 400,000 Nagasaki bombs"
My airflow chart below shows some of the main areas of conflict (marked by stars) and you will see the extent of the problem:
Below is my airflow chart that is applicable during monsoonal flows or cyclones when the airborne nanoparticles come down to earth in mass and contaminate the land and water. You must also note that in regard to the Himalaya’s and areas due east of them, vast amounts of radioactive nanoparticles are dumped to contaminates the main river arteries of China, Southeast Asia and the Far East.
Finally we have a very alarming even that took place during the "Shock and Awa" attack on Baghdad some years ago which gave rise to great concern here in the United Kingdom.
As I have previously pointed out to you that radiation contamination respects no international borders as we found out with Chernobyl and its effect on North Wales for example.
When these "Mini Nukes or WMD's" are used they can for example arrive on our shores within 7-10 days from their far away battlefield (as was the case during "Shock and Awe). The nuclear establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire, England (not far from London) for example is the home of the UK's nuclear weapons programme....otherwise known as The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), which develops, maintains, and disposes of the UK's nuclear weaponry.
Because of its existence it is required to monitor the atmosphere in the area by way of atmospheric filters to detect levels of radioactivity from its own facility or in this case of DU from some far away battlefield.
Dr Chris Busby, under the "Freedom of Information Act," was able to obtain the report concerning high levels of atmospheric radioactivity that had arrived on our doorstep from Baghdad. The report was a closely guarded secret and was kept under lock and key owing to its startling findings (unknown to the people in the region and beyond.
One has to understand that when such areas are central to a low pressure system the wind and weather vortex pulls the contamination into a tight circle that unfortunately, on this occasion, happened to be centred in the Reading - Berkshire area which is up wind from the City of London.
After considerable effort by Dr Busby and despite the refusal by the owners of the establishment to release the information, Chris obtained the report which shows the follow graph that clearly highlights the spike in contamination........it must be made clear that this is not the only spike that has occurred....in actual fact there are others that just so happen to coincide with major bombing campaigns in the Middle East such as the "Tora Bora" bombing in Afghanistan etc.
The graphs below show the actual peaks that were recorded at AWE Aldermaston.....the additional notations have since been added to explain the possible reason for such hikes in airborne contaminations.

During the 2003 ‘Shock and Awe’ heavy bombing campaign in Iraq, the concentration of depleted uranium particles in the British atmosphere was 45,000 particles per cubic meter. It is our duty of care to protect the world’s environment and the people that live on this planet. We must all endeavor to make sure that all weapons that contain any form of uranium in their components are prohibited permanently from the world's military arsenal. The existing efforts by President Obama is an absolute con and does not reveal the truth behind the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT)...its seeks to remove the out dated large nuclear weapons but encourages the mass production of the smaller nukes that have a dial up category of not more that 5 kiloton. These weapons are not covered under the existing NPT and are currently being developed and produced. Add to this all the weapons that contain DU etc and we can clearly see a major problem developing of gigantic proportions......this basically all amounts to mass depopulation or genocide and will make the holocaust look miniscule by comparison...enough is enough.
Here we see yet another jet jockey about to offload his deadly cargo onto the people of Afghanistan....I wonder if he knows that he himself, his family and fellow vets could also become a victim of their own US arsenal.
My final Part 4 of the current series will focus on DU with a full summary by a staunch activist along with the fact that Tactical Nuclear Weapons have been used in the battlefield. Many people believe that the last time nukes were used was in Japan during WW2.....wrong....they have been used in and around the Middle East.....unfortunately Afghanistan has and is bearing the brunt of these evil weapons.
Finally we will again cover the missing nukes that were lost compliments of the US Government and the three "Battlefield ready bombs" that were purchased illegally and then lost (stolen) by the Thatcher government, with the help of our current Prime Minister who was only a 24 year old researcher at the time.

We have talked about the implications in the use of weapons containing uranium components in all areas of conflict. It is a fact that little is said by the mainstream media and so it is basically left to individuals to educate the public at large, whilst at the same time take considerable risk. Those people incidentally are normally attacked by a small group of selective agents who do nothing all day but carry out character assassination on those that oppose such weapons.
We can now look at the very hard work carried out by Scottish Member of Parliament, Dr Bill Wilson who decided to expose the dangers of DU by writing a dossier address to the Minister of Defence, Liam Fox.

MSP sends dossier on depleted uranium to Defence Secretary: come clean on dirty bombs! Character assassination used to silence DU opponents.

DU = dirty bombs
Dr Wilson said, “There is much talk about terrorists potentially using ‘dirty bombs’, i.e. weapons which emit radiation and indiscriminately affect anyone in the vicinity, yet the USA, the UK and Israel have deployed many tonnes of DU shells. DU has a half-life of 4.5 billion years and the microscopic uranium oxide dust that DU shells produce on impact can be blown hundreds of miles, inhaled and ingested. If these are not dirty bombs then what are they?
“There is considerable evidence that thousands of armed services personnel, their families and countless civilians have been and are continuing to be affected by DU in many ways, suffering, for example, premature death, respiratory problems, cancers, stillbirths and birth deformities."
Character assassination
“Furthermore, I have seen enough evidence to believe that those who are brave enough to look into the effects of DU risk losing their jobs and worse. Character assassination is one tool in the armoury of those who seek to silence truth-seekers. I have received emails scurrilously attacking the credibility of one my informants. Unfortunately for the defender of DU, I happened already to hold various documents disproving his baseless allegations. It was an eye-opening insight into the ruthlessness of the pro-DU lobby."

At this stage I would like to reveal one of the offenders that went on the attack of myself (Peter Eyre) some time ago. This traitor of the United States is Col Roger Helbig (ret) (picture above) who many times tried to carry out a character assassination on me without success. I believe the cat has since died but this scum of the earth lives on. Back to the story by Dr Wilson:
“I have urged Liam Fox to investigate the impact of DU on the health of UK service personnel and civilians. I have also requested him to:
• acknowledge the validity of the precautionary principle as it pertains to the potential health effects of DU;
• comply with UN resolutions pertaining to DU;
• cease to use all DU weapons (for example, CHARM 3 120 mm anti-tank rounds), and to
• clean up the mess left in theatres of war where DU weapons have been used by allied troops (this to include such measures as oiling radioactive dust to prevent it being carried by the wind and barricading heavily contaminated sites such as destroyed tanks, where clean up is not practical and where children are currently free to play).”

I would wish to point out that such contamination remains in situ for around 4.5 billion years and basically cannot be cleaned up. It is also a known fact that conventional breather apparatus cannot screen out the nanoparticles from such weapons making a clean up extremely dangerous, which Doug Rokke and his team were soon to find out.
It is also fact that secondary contamination occurs when the contaminated earth/sand is blown around or disturbed by such things as sand storms, helicopter down wash and vehicle movement etc. What I found shocking was the fact that the UN established a project in Gaza (a highly contaminated area) whereby bombed/shelled out buildings would be leveled out by bulldozers, the waste transferred to a crushing plant and then used to resurface the roads and street in Gaza. Some recycled materials were also used to repair such things as kindergartens and schools which basically entombed the children in radioactive environment. The residents of Gaza and many many children continue to play amongst the contaminated rubble which I find very disturbing. All of this in strict violation of the UN’s own protocol.
Back to Dr. Wilson’s Dossier
Dr Wilson concluded by saying, “I am not holding my breath, but it would be wonderful if the coalition government did the right thing here, took the moral high ground and turned its back on dirty bombs, once and for all. In the meantime I am asking the Scottish Government to look into the health of armed services veterans and their families resident here, as I have little faith that the UK Government will do so.”

The health of service personnel and civilians exposed to depleted uranium
There is considerable evidence for depleted uranium (DU) having a harmful effect on health and serious grounds for believing that the UK Government and the Ministry of Defence have been failing in their duty to look after service personnel and civilians.
I would like to draw your attention to a statement on the MoD website: “Of course, the Government would consider carefully any reliable medical or scientific data that may emerge concerning the incidence of ill health in Iraq.” You will know that the UK Government effectively attempted to impede the investigation of the association between DU and ill health by voting against UN Resolution 65/55 on Depleted Uranium, which called on state users of depleted uranium weapons to reveal where the weapons have been fired when countries affected by them ask for such information.
You will be aware of abundant, and growing, evidence concerning the incidence of ill health in Iraq, which I assume you are investigating. You could start by responding to this peer-reviewed article: Busby, C.; Hamdan, M.; Ariabi, E. Cancer, Infant Mortality and Birth Sex-Ratio in Fallujah, Iraq 2005–2009. Int. J. Environ. Res. Public Health 2010, 7, 2828-2837.
It has been suggested that the Royal Society takes the view that depleted uranium (DU) is safe. The Royal Society itself spoke out voicing concern that its original paper was misinterpreted as implying that this was the case.
I draw your attention to the following (full documents attached):
• Evidence presented by Dr Keith Baverstock, of the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Eastern Finland, to the Belgian Defence Committee on the toxicity of DU ( “Presentation to the Defence Committee of the Belgian House of Representatives: 20 November 2006.”. Note that he emphasises the precautionary principle, a concept apparently unknown to the UK and US Governments and the MoD/DoD, and states, “I think it is clear that the major risk assessments of the health impact of DU have not addressed the genotoxic hazard and it is conspicuously absent from much cited assessments of toxicity such as that by Priest (21). It is also the case, as far as I am aware, that no specific body has been assigned the responsibility to produce the necessary evidence that DU oxide dusts do not pose a hazard to health.
• A BBC article, dated 1 November 2006, quoting Dr Baverstock attacking reports that DU is relatively innocuous (“Depleted uranium risk 'ignored'.
• Evidence presented by Dr Chris Busby, Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk, rebutting a Home Office article denying the effects of DU.
• Evidence presented by Dr Chris Busby rebutting the Royal Society claim that DU presents little risk.
• Evidence presented by Martin Hooper, emeritus professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Sunderland, also rebutting the Royal Society claim that DU presents little risk.
• The Royal Society itself has stated that “both soldiers and civilians [are] in short and long term danger” (“Scientists urge shell clear-up to protect civilians. Royal Society spells out dangers of depleted uranium”.
• An information card issued to UK service personnel clearly stating that DU “has the potential to cause ill health”.
• Documentation from Major Doug Rokke Ph.D., employed by the US army to devise protocols for dealing with DU safely, citing extensive evidence of the effects of DU and presenting evidence for a deliberate policy of suppression/denial/cover-up on the part of the US and UK governments and the DoD/MoD.
• At least two former UK service personnel have been found, by due legal/medical process, to have suffered as a result of DU exposure, one winning a pension appeal on that basis, and the other being found to have died as a result of exposure to it (“First award for depleted uranium poisoning claim”; and “Press Release : NGVFA (National Gulf Veterans and Families Association) Gulf War Veterans Support Coroners Findings and Concerns”).
• “Successive [UK] governments have resisted calls for a public inquiry into the harmful effects of depleted uranium ammunition to avoid compensation claims, which could potentially cost them hundreds of millions of pounds” (“Fewer than 10 Gulf war troops had uranium poisoning).
• A memorandum, dated 1 March 1991, which is an order, on the part of the US army, to suppress information regarding the health effects of DU.
• An article titled “ITEM OF INTEREST”, which is a “Defense Nuclear Agency Memo” written by Gregory K. Lyle, LTC, USA concerning what “can, must or should be done with the millions of expanded rounds of depleted uranium ordinance” in Iraq. It notes that clean up procedures “were not meant to support shipments of thousands of DU rounds from site restoration.” It goes on to note “As Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), ground combat units, and the civil populations of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq come increasingly into contact with DU ordnance, we must prepare to deal with the potential problems.” Further, “Alpha particles (uranium oxide dust) from expanded rounds is a health concern but, Beta particles from fragments and intact rounds is a serious health threat, with a possible exposure rate of 200 millirems per hour on contact.” The memo warns that “specific DoD guidance concerning the disposition of DU material in the post combat period/restoration phase is currently lacking.” The writer hoped that “expression of our concerns over the side effects of DU use will help ensure protection for our troops and allies.” This memo is undated – Dr Rokke says he received it around the same time he received the Los Alamos memo in 1991.
• The UK state has previously attempted to deny the effects of radiation on service personnel (“Opinion: battling against the legacy of Britain’s nuclear tests.
• The testimony of Dr Asaf Durakovic, former Chief of Nuclear Medicine at the veterans’ hospital in Wilmington Delaware, would seem to indicate deliberate (and potentially murderous) attempts to suppress information regarding the effects of DU, and the callous exposure of service personnel to it (“The NI Interview. Asaf Durakovic. Felicity Arbuthnot meets a respected scientist fighting on behalf of American Gulf War veterans.” ).
• The UK Atomic Energy Authority sent a report in 1990 to the UK Government estimating that if 50 tonnes of DU were left in the Gulf area should there be a war, this would lead to an estimated 50,000 extra cancer deaths in a decade. In 1999 experts were estimating that there might be 900 tonnes remaining, dispersed by the wind (“Poisoned Legacy. Felicity Arbuthnot investigates the worldwide spread of cancers and deformities since the Gulf War..
• A Vanity Fair article summarising the case against DU as it stood in December 2004
. It refers to the work of Dr Asaf Durakovic and Major Doug Rokke, the apparent attempts to silence/sideline them when their findings proved inconvenient, and the experiences of various US service personnel and factory workers exposed to DU. (“Weapons of Self-Destruction. Is Gulf War syndrome—possibly caused by Pentagon ammunition—taking its toll on G.I.’s in Iraq?
I hope you will not continue to turn a blind eye to the considerable evidence that exists and will not continue to refuse to take adequate measures to investigate the impact of DU on the health of UK service personnel and civilians. I also request you to:
• acknowledge the validity of the precautionary principle as it pertains to the potential health effects of DU;
• comply with UN resolutions pertaining to DU;
• cease to use all DU weapons (for example, CHARM 3 120 mm anti-tank rounds), and to

To summarize there is much more evidence available over and above Dr Wilson’s report covering a vast array of other weapons that contain uranium components including Cruise Missiles, Bunker Buster Bombs and the fact the genuine nuclear bombs were also probably used in Iraq and Afghanistan. “I have urged Liam Fox to investigate the impact of DU on the health of UK service personnel and civilians. I have also requested him to:
• acknowledge the validity of the precautionary principle as it pertains to the potential health effects of DU;
• comply with UN resolutions pertaining to DU;
• cease to use all DU weapons (for example, CHARM 3 120 mm anti-tank rounds), and to
• clean up the mess left in theatres of war where DU weapons have been used by allied troops (this to include such measures as oiling radioactive dust to prevent it being carried by the wind and barricading heavily contaminated sites such as destroyed tanks, where clean up is not practical and where children are currently free to play).”

I would wish to point out that such contamination remains in situ for around 4.5 billion years and basically cannot be cleaned up. It is also a known fact that conventional breather apparatus cannot screen out the nanoparticles from such weapons making a clean up extremely dangerous, which Doug Rokke and his team were soon to find out.
It is also fact that secondary contamination occurs when the contaminated earth/sand is blown around or disturbed by such things as sand storms, helicopter down wash and vehicle movement etc. What I found shocking was the fact that the UN established a project in Gaza (a highly contaminated area) whereby bombed/shelled out buildings would be leveled out by bulldozers, the waste transferred to a crushing plant and then used to resurface the roads and street in Gaza. Some recycled materials were also used to repair such things as kindergartens and schools which basically entombed the children in radioactive environment. The residents of Gaza and many many children continue to play amongst the contaminated rubble which I find very disturbing. All of this in strict violation of the UN’s own protocol.

Dr Wilson concluded by saying, “I am not holding my breath, but it would be wonderful if the coalition government did the right thing here, took the moral high ground and turned its back on dirty bombs, once and for all. In the meantime I am asking the Scottish Government to look into the health of armed services veterans and their families resident here, as I have little faith that the UK Government will do so.”

The health of service personnel and civilians exposed to depleted uranium
There is considerable evidence for depleted uranium (DU) having a harmful effect on health and serious grounds for believing that the UK Government and the Ministry of Defence have been failing in their duty to look after service personnel and civilians.
I would like to draw your attention to a statement on the MoD website: “Of course, the Government would consider carefully any reliable medical or scientific data that may emerge concerning the incidence of ill health in Iraq.” You will know that the UK Government effectively attempted to impede the investigation of the association between DU and ill health by voting against UN Resolution 65/55 on Depleted Uranium, which called on state users of depleted uranium weapons to reveal where the weapons have been fired when countries affected by them ask for such information.
You will be aware of abundant, and growing, evidence concerning the incidence of ill health in Iraq, which I assume you are investigating. You could start by responding to this peer-reviewed article: Busby, C.; Hamdan, M.; Ariabi, E. Cancer, Infant Mortality and Birth Sex-Ratio in Fallujah, Iraq 2005–2009. Int. J. Environ. Res. Public Health 2010, 7, 2828-2837.
It has been suggested that the Royal Society takes the view that depleted uranium (DU) is safe. The Royal Society itself spoke out voicing concern that its original paper was misinterpreted as implying that this was the case.
I draw your attention to the following (full documents attached):
• Evidence presented by Dr Keith Baverstock, of the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Eastern Finland, to the Belgian Defence Committee on the toxicity of DU ( “Presentation to the Defence Committee of the Belgian House of Representatives: 20 November 2006.”. Note that he emphasises the precautionary principle, a concept apparently unknown to the UK and US Governments and the MoD/DoD, and states, “I think it is clear that the major risk assessments of the health impact of DU have not addressed the genotoxic hazard and it is conspicuously absent from much cited assessments of toxicity such as that by Priest (21). It is also the case, as far as I am aware, that no specific body has been assigned the responsibility to produce the necessary evidence that DU oxide dusts do not pose a hazard to health.
• A BBC article, dated 1 November 2006, quoting Dr Baverstock attacking reports that DU is relatively innocuous (“Depleted uranium risk 'ignored'.
• Evidence presented by Dr Chris Busby, Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk, rebutting a Home Office article denying the effects of DU.
• Evidence presented by Dr Chris Busby rebutting the Royal Society claim that DU presents little risk.
• Evidence presented by Martin Hooper, emeritus professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Sunderland, also rebutting the Royal Society claim that DU presents little risk.
• The Royal Society itself has stated that “both soldiers and civilians [are] in short and long term danger” (“Scientists urge shell clear-up to protect civilians. Royal Society spells out dangers of depleted uranium”.
• An information card issued to UK service personnel clearly stating that DU “has the potential to cause ill health”.
• Documentation from Major Doug Rokke Ph.D., employed by the US army to devise protocols for dealing with DU safely, citing extensive evidence of the effects of DU and presenting evidence for a deliberate policy of suppression/denial/cover-up on the part of the US and UK governments and the DoD/MoD.
• At least two former UK service personnel have been found, by due legal/medical process, to have suffered as a result of DU exposure, one winning a pension appeal on that basis, and the other being found to have died as a result of exposure to it (“First award for depleted uranium poisoning claim”; and “Press Release : NGVFA (National Gulf Veterans and Families Association) Gulf War Veterans Support Coroners Findings and Concerns”).
• “Successive [UK] governments have resisted calls for a public inquiry into the harmful effects of depleted uranium ammunition to avoid compensation claims, which could potentially cost them hundreds of millions of pounds” (“Fewer than 10 Gulf war troops had uranium poisoning).
• A memorandum, dated 1 March 1991, which is an order, on the part of the US army, to suppress information regarding the health effects of DU.
• An article titled “ITEM OF INTEREST”, which is a “Defense Nuclear Agency Memo” written by Gregory K. Lyle, LTC, USA concerning what “can, must or should be done with the millions of expanded rounds of depleted uranium ordinance” in Iraq. It notes that clean up procedures “were not meant to support shipments of thousands of DU rounds from site restoration.” It goes on to note “As Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), ground combat units, and the civil populations of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq come increasingly into contact with DU ordnance, we must prepare to deal with the potential problems.” Further, “Alpha particles (uranium oxide dust) from expanded rounds is a health concern but, Beta particles from fragments and intact rounds is a serious health threat, with a possible exposure rate of 200 millirems per hour on contact.” The memo warns that “specific DoD guidance concerning the disposition of DU material in the post combat period/restoration phase is currently lacking.” The writer hoped that “expression of our concerns over the side effects of DU use will help ensure protection for our troops and allies.” This memo is undated – Dr Rokke says he received it around the same time he received the Los Alamos memo in 1991.
• The UK state has previously attempted to deny the effects of radiation on service personnel (“Opinion: battling against the legacy of Britain’s nuclear tests.
• The testimony of Dr Asaf Durakovic, former Chief of Nuclear Medicine at the veterans’ hospital in Wilmington Delaware, would seem to indicate deliberate (and potentially murderous) attempts to suppress information regarding the effects of DU, and the callous exposure of service personnel to it (“The NI Interview. Asaf Durakovic. Felicity Arbuthnot meets a respected scientist fighting on behalf of American Gulf War veterans.” ).
• The UK Atomic Energy Authority sent a report in 1990 to the UK Government estimating that if 50 tonnes of DU were left in the Gulf area should there be a war, this would lead to an estimated 50,000 extra cancer deaths in a decade. In 1999 experts were estimating that there might be 900 tonnes remaining, dispersed by the wind (“Poisoned Legacy. • A Vanity Fair article summarising the case against DU as it stood in December 2004
. It refers to the work of Dr Asaf Durakovic and Major Doug Rokke, the apparent attempts to silence/sideline them when their findings proved inconvenient, and the experiences of various US service personnel and factory workers exposed to DU. (“Weapons of Self-Destruction. Is Gulf War syndrome—possibly caused by Pentagon ammunition—taking its toll on G.I.’s in Iraq?
I hope you will not continue to turn a blind eye to the considerable evidence that exists and will not continue to refuse to take adequate measures to investigate the impact of DU on the health of UK service personnel and civilians. I also request you to:
• acknowledge the validity of the precautionary principle as it pertains to the potential health effects of DU;
• comply with UN resolutions pertaining to DU;
• cease to use all DU weapons (for example, CHARM 3 120 mm anti-tank rounds), and to

Footnote Peter Eyre:
To summarize there is much more evidence available over and above Dr Wilson’s report covering a vast array of other weapons that contain uranium components including Cruise Missiles, Bunker Buster Bombs and the fact the genuine nuclear bombs were also probably used in Iraq and Afghanistan. The spin of from all of these weapons is the fact that they are pumping into the atmosphere massive contamination. For example 800 tons of DU is the atomicity equivalent of 83,000 Nagasaki bombs. The U.S. has used more DU since 1991 than the atomicity equivalent of 400,000 Nagasaki bombs
